Jaguar Cars Limited, founded in 1922, is one of the world’s premier manufacturers of luxury saloons and sports cars. The Jaguar XF, XJ and XK models are manufactured at the company's Castle Bromwich plant in Birmingham. The Jaguar Land Rover business employs over 14,500 people, predominately in the UK, including some 3,500 engineers at two product development centres in Whitley, Coventry and Gaydon, Warwickshire. The business is a major wealth generator for the UK with 78 percent of Land Rovers exported to over 160 countries and 70 percent of Jaguars exported to over 60 countries, with sales to customers conducted principally through franchised dealers and importers. Jaguar Land Rover annually invests £400 million on research and engineering in the UK. This represents up to 50% of the automotive industry total and is the 7th largest research and engineering spend in the UK in any industry. Jaguar Land Rover is investing £800m over five years to develop technologies aimed specifically at reducing tailpipe CO2 emissions designed to meet the 25% improvement target set by the European Union which is well ahead of the industry average. 2010 marks the 75th anniversary of the Jaguar name. We have always been inspired to design and develop beautiful fast cars; cars that stand out and stand apart. At no point has this vision been more complete than today with the all-new XJ, the internationally renowned XF and the super sleek XK. |
