After a studio visit with a male art collector who called McCaig’s work ‘too much’, McCaig responded by creating a piece that reduces visual impact, but further sexualises it by utilising a ‘peep hole’ device in the frame itself, that demonstrates the hypocrisy inherent in the art worlds patriarchal policing of how a woman may present her body, sexuality and desires beyond the accepted conventions of art history.
