Dale’s work represents his lived environment and the processes of existing within spectrums of social deprivation and mental excess. Drawing upon the malleability of the human condition, humanity is often only implied, preferring instead to recall moods and impulses via animalistic characters. Pigs are often present as anthropoidal stand-ins for activities necessitating un moralised inspection. Likewise, multifarious British wildlife cavort amongst sylvan pockets of unlovely conurbations, and indulge in recreational oblivion. Ownerless and unshepherded, they act in accordance with a libidinal will.

These players upon a grander stage of existence, whose roles often only make sense in the artists’ theoretical world, can only represent ideas and feelings. A brutalised porcine form, an oblivious avian reveller, a conglomeration of nitrous oxide canisters, each thing aligning in a non-rational trajectory. Each piece a body, held together by coincidence and spite. That they are worlded imply a magnetism not implied by their physical appearance, but instead by an invisible lure, described only by their conceptual and locational positioning.
