Born in Manchester, and now living in Scotland, Chad still retains an outward looking approach to exhibiting his work. Though deeply personal, and exhibiting traits of the environments which shaped his adolescence, the work retains a universal appeal. It is not anchored to a cultural niche, but instead talks about the overarching structures which form our external boundaries. It is a testament to McCail’s vision that he is collected by institutions as varied as The British Council Collection, MOMA, New York, The Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, Musée d’Art Moderne Grand Duc Jean, Luxembourg and many more.
