Balthazar Mattar

Stand: 208

'Ready Steady Gallery' was devised as a platform for emerging artist Balthazar Mattar.

Exhibiting work which is a response to contemporary culture through anaologue means, all work shown is created using typewriters and enamel paint. At a glance the pieces appear digital and it is only on closer inspection that the tactile imperfections reveal themselves indicating the lengthy and human element to the process.

Through this anlogue mimicry of digital aesthetics the work asks us to contemplate the values of an art market increasingly dominated by AI and mass produced photoshop prints.

Like a wolf in sheeps clothings it moves like a pallbearer through our 21st century vision of short attention span consumption.
