Red Dog

Stand: 208

Red Dog is an artist led, peripatetic, project space for artwork that explores site, history and gender.

At the Manchester Contemporary, Red Dog is showing Close Up, a body of work that considers the post-industrial landscape of Wolverhampton.

Exploring legacy and labour, Celia Johnson's multi-disciplinary practice considers the contemporary industrial processes, architecture and communities of work at the Guy Motors Industrial Park where her grandfather was a track fitter.

Informed by archival as well as present-day narratives that relate to industrial, personal and autobiographical Black Country working life, she embraces the provisional, the discarded and left behind, looking for residues and traces of the past to question the nature of work now.
